Developmental baby massage can help with babies’:
- Relaxation (by relaxing the baby’s stomach it can calm them and help with wind and colic).
What to Expect
Meet other parents and babies in a relaxed, caring environment. Learn to massage your baby over a 5 week period. Bring along a folded bath towel or something soft and flat to lay your baby on.
There will be time to talk about any worries you may have and to relax at the end with a drink and a chat.
Who it will suit
Baby massage can be started at any time after your baby has their 6-8 week Developmental Assessment with their G.P. and up until they start crawling.
Gwyneth Moore RN, RM, RHV, (Retired), Advanced Cert. Education. Developmental Baby Massage Teacher
Gwyn trained first as a General Nurse at Canterbury then went on to train as a Midwife in Kettering, Northants. She worked as a midwife at the William Harvey Hospital before becoming a Community Midwife working locally for about 10 years. She then trained as a Health Visitor and worked in Maidstone, Tenterden and Ashford areas for the remainder of her NHS career.
Gwyn missed working with mums and babies (having worked with them for over 30 years) and decided to train to teach Baby Massage.
She did this with world-renowned Peter Walker (www.thebabieswebsite.com) who has been teaching baby massage for over 40 years.
She feels that the early weeks/months with your baby are a most precious time which can only be enhanced by learning to relax and massage your baby while making friends in a calm, supportive environment.
